“A horse is prepared for the day of battle, but victory comes from the Lord .” – Proverbs 21:31
Dear Lord, I tend to want to control things. I’m a list-maker, a food-prepper, a calendar inviter by nature. My struggle is not is having too many balls up in the air at once, but in not being able to fathom if I were to let one drop. What would happen? Would the world stop spinning?
I don’t have a problem with worry, but I sure do stress when I can’t see a way out.
And yet I look back at different times in my life that have been profoundly impactful, have changed who I am as a human and what I value, and most of those times have involved a situation out of my control.
Even though I think I’m so good at controlling the outcome and that I’m two steps ahead at all times, Lord help me to remember that You are the one who writes the music before I hear the song and has already walked down the road I’m just turning onto.
You are such a better candidate for control than I am.
We have point of view, but You have view. So help me remember that there is a difference between being a good steward of this life You’ve allowed, and trying to control it all on my own.
Keep my sights set on the victory that only You provide and help me trust that You have a better plan than mine will ever be. I need only to tune my ear to Your direction and humble myself to walk it out. Amen.
